Since Monday, residual and organic waste bins in Campdevànol require a card for access, marking the beginning of a new phase in municipal waste management.

Waste management in Campdevànol has entered a new phase with the implementation of an electronic locking system for bins designated for residual waste and organic matter. From now on, citizens will need to use a specific card to deposit their rubbish at these points.
The mayor of the municipality, Oriol Lázaro, explained that the usage will be similar to the usual routine, but with the requirement to identify oneself with the card to access the mentioned bins. This measure is part of the council's efforts to increase recycling rates while controlling waste management costs.
The town hall emphasizes that the primary objective is not to control citizens, but to ensure that the service is used exclusively by residents who contribute financially to the municipality through their taxes. The aim is to encourage more efficient recycling of all fractions, as good recycling of materials like glass or cardboard can generate economic returns that help reduce the municipal bill.
With this initiative, Campdevànol becomes the second municipality in the Ripollès region to adopt this system of locked bins. Gombrèn is expected to be the next town to implement a similar measure.
