Campdevànol Town Council has presented a highly satisfactory initial assessment following the closure of waste and organic containers. After overcoming some initial issues, data indicates a significant reduction in the waste fraction, while other fractions have increased, leading to a doubling of plastic containers in some stations. The council reminds that the recycling rate, previously below 50%, has improved, with the goal of reaching European-comparable figures of around 70%.
The mayor of the municipality, Oriol Lázaro, emphasized that "everything is taking shape and falling into place. We are continuously improving the operation" and reiterated the commitment to "greatly improve recycling," aiming to surpass 50% or 55% in the short term and 70% in the long term.
Furthermore, mini recycling points have been increased, and three new larger capacity ones for coffee capsules have been installed.
Currently, the town council is working on drafting an ordinance focused on incivisme, beyond just recycling volume. The implementation of video surveillance in the most problematic areas is not ruled out. "We don't want to know the data for each card right now; that will be for the long term. What we need to do is regulate incivisme, and in the most problematic spots, we want to implement video surveillance," stated Lázaro.
The mayor also announced that they are studying the possibility of families having a second card, possibly smaller and less costly, for waste management.
