The Trofeu Cabina kicks off this year in Campdevànol, taking over from Ripoll as the host of one of the most prominent summer football tournaments in the Ripollès region. Following a change of venue, the organization faces this 48th edition with optimism and nearly intact participation.
A total of 26 teams will compete, divided into three categories: 14 senior teams, 7 veteran teams, and 5 junior teams. This number is very similar to previous editions, demonstrating the participants' loyalty to the tournament.
“"We believe the teams we have are of a high level, and we are very proud to continue counting on the people who trust us year after year. The most important thing is that the teams remain loyal."
The tournament will follow its usual format, with weekday matches played between 8 PM and 10 PM over four weeks. The main novelty this year is that the finals will be held on Saturday, July 25th.
“"We will follow more or less the same format. The tournament will start on June 29th and last four weeks, with the grand finals on July 25th, which is a Saturday, another of this year's novelties."
The organization aims to focus on this new edition, despite the controversy surrounding the move. They appreciate the positive reception from the Campdevànol Town Council and Bar Cabina, but have not yet confirmed if this will be the tournament's permanent venue. "We are very happy with the treatment received and very grateful to the Campdevànol Town Council, which has provided us with all the facilities. This situation arose this year, and next year we will evaluate where and how to continue. What is clear is that if we can continue organizing it, we will reach the fiftieth edition and all those that follow," state Candelo and Garrido.
Beyond the competition, the Trofeu Cabina asserts itself as a social gathering. "The Trofeu Cabina is much more than football. It's summer evenings at the field, meeting friends, having a drink or dinner while watching the games. We want people to come not just for the football, but also for this atmosphere," highlights the organization.
Everything is set for the ball to roll again in Campdevànol on Monday evening, marking a new chapter for a tournament with almost half a century of history.
