The 37th Popular Race of La Llagosta has recorded a notable success in participation, with over a thousand people running in one of the three events held today. The event, organized by the City Council, was marked by a great sporting atmosphere.
In the 10-kilometer race, Mohamed Ezzayaty won with a time of 31:39, followed by Pau Bogunyà (33:01) and Omar El Harras (33:20). The first local athlete was Francisco Javier Manzaneda (40:46).
The women's 10 km category was won by Bàrbara Ramon (37:15), followed by Laura Peña (37:33) and Cristelle Duperrain (41:27). Cristina Rojas was the first local woman with 52:20.
Regarding the 5-kilometer race, Gerard Artó was the male winner with 15:01, ahead of Ramón Caballería (15:33) and Dennis Otero (16:14). Gerard Martínez was the first local participant (21:18).
Among women, Berta Galán led the 5 km race with 18:07, followed by Júlia de la Piedra (18:29) and Carla Yanguas (19:02). María Herrera was the first local athlete (27:19).
The Mayor of La Llagosta, Óscar Sierra, and the Councilor for Sports Action, Ainara Morales, presented the trophies. Morales expressed satisfaction with the participation, highlighting the number of women runners and the solidarity aspect of the race, which raised 510 euros for the NGO Debra Piel de Mariposa, dedicated to the rare butterfly skin disease.
This year, the Popular Race featured a special commemorative t-shirt for the town's 90th anniversary. The day concluded with children's races.
