The ERC party has formally requested the Spanish Government and Adif to station a snowplow at Ripoll to prevent the R3 commuter line from collapsing during winter.

The proposal, presented in the Senate and local town halls across the Ripollès region, highlights the vulnerability of this mountain track. Near the Toses tunnel, the line reaches an altitude of 1,500 meters, making it prone to heavy snow that frequently halts train traffic.

"Stoppages on the R3 affect not only daily mobility but also economic activity, tourism, and basic services."

Local leaders criticize Adif for removing the snowplow that was previously based in Ripoll. They also demand the full restoration of the service to Ribes de Freser, which has been replaced by buses since a fatal accident in January.
