The Agrupació Esportiva del Ripollès (AER) has culminated a successful season by clinching the league championship title in tennis. The senior team led the regular league in a group of six teams and subsequently excelled in the final phase, where the top three from each group competed for victory. This triumph not only grants them the title but also secures them a spot in the First Division for the upcoming season.
The AER's sporting director, Pere Verdaguer, has positively assessed the season, highlighting the team's accuracy in both competition phases. While acknowledging that the move to the First Division will present challenges, he expressed the club's enthusiasm to face them. "The category change will be complicated, but we are very eager," he stated, emphasizing that participation and player enjoyment are paramount.
Verdaguer also expressed satisfaction with the number of participants throughout the season, noting that despite initial difficulties in forming teams, no match was conceded. He emphasized the potential of the team's young players, who might have opportunities to join the senior squad in the new division. "There are young players who show promise and could, at some point, move up to play with the seniors," he commented, while admitting the high level of competition in the First Division.
With the official season concluded, AER is now looking towards the summer, with plans for its sports campus, scheduled from June 22 to July 31, and the eighth edition of the 'Pàdel a la Fresca' tournament, which will commence on June 30.
