The town of Llanars successfully hosted the 14th edition of its Farmers' Fair, an event that annually draws hundreds of people from across the region. This year, the celebration, which champions the municipality's farming and traditions, saw a significant turnout thanks to favorable weather conditions.
The mayor of Llanars, Amadeu Rosell, highlighted the involvement of all the local farmers and livestock breeders. "One of the things we can enjoy and be proud of is that all the local farmers and livestock breeders participate in this festival. Therefore, everyone's collaboration is essential, and many people from Llanars attend," he stated. Rosell also emphasized the success in participation due to the pleasant weather and the festival's appeal.
The fair has established itself as a platform for advocating for the rural world and the work of farmers. Beyond advocacy, attendees had the opportunity to discover traditional crafts such as sheep shearing and wool carding. "It's a form of advocacy. Here in Llanars, we have a lot of farming, livestock, and common lands. Therefore, we must advocate for their work and the situations they face," explained Rosell, noting the educational role farmers play in helping people understand the challenges of acquiring local produce.
The mayor stressed the importance of raising awareness about farmers' work and reviving traditional crafts that have fallen into disuse due to new technologies. "We must advocate for it and give this value to the farming community we have here, in the Ripollès region," he added.
The day underscored the deep roots and sense of belonging to agriculture within the territory, with high participation confirming the public's positive reception of the fair.
