Òmnium Ripollès held its annual assembly in Sant Joan de les Abadesses in early March, where it paid an emotional tribute to members who have maintained their loyalty to the organization for over 50 years.

The event, which took place in Sant Joan de les Abadesses, served to present financial accounts, review past work, and outline the organization's intentions for the coming year. Additionally, the occasion was used to recognize the trajectory of the oldest members, some of whom joined as early as 1971, during the dictatorship.
Among the honored members were Francesc Descamps from Sant Joan, Jordi Romans and Maria Collboni from Camprodon, Antoni Bertran from Campdevànol, and Maria Carme Llagostera, Pere Jordi Piella, and Eudald Maideu from Ripoll. Lluís Miquel, another member from Sant Joan who had recently passed away, was also remembered.

Becoming a member of Òmnium Cultural at that time was a declaration of principles in the face of the oppression suffered by Catalonia. Language, culture, and country, the same three principles as now, but more difficult to defend under adverse circumstances.

The organization, which was shut down and searched by the Francoist police in 1963, was able to continue its work thanks to the perseverance of members like those honored. The Òmnium Ripollès branch, launched with Amadeu Rosell at its helm, has seen its membership grow from 90 in 2010 to over 800 currently.
This recognition was symbolized by a pin, a token of appreciation for their contribution to the defense of the language, culture, and country. The organization also announced activities for Sant Jordi, including a Tastet d'Autors Km 0 at the Lambert Mata library on the eve and a stand in Ripoll featuring books awarded at the Nit de les Lletres Catalanes.
