The budget agreement between the Government and the Comuns includes a significant investment for the Ripollès region. One and a half million euros are earmarked for the acquisition of twelve apartments located in Planoles, which currently fall under the Ministry of Transport and are owned by the Ministry of Finance. This measure addresses the urgent need for social housing in a rural area like the Rigard valley, especially after a recent attempted occupation of the building.
The mayor of Planoles, David Verge, has highlighted the importance of this acquisition, comparing the significance of twelve apartments in this locality to ten thousand in Barcelona. According to Verge, housing is the only missing factor for the town's progress, as all other necessary elements for its development are in place.
Once the budgets are approved by the Parliament of Catalonia, a renovation process for the homes will begin. The apartments are in good condition due to ongoing maintenance. The goal is for them to be occupied by families under a rental scheme. The entire process, from purchase to the apartments being ready for occupancy, is expected to take approximately five years.
The purchase of the properties is expected to be finalized in the short term. Subsequently, necessary renovations will be assessed, although the apartments are considered to be in good condition. In addition to the housing investment, approximately 200,000 euros will be allocated for the acquisition of land between Ribes and Ripoll. This land will be used to construct a facility to house machinery and road maintenance functions currently carried out from the Ministry's warehouses in Planoles.
