The Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (PSC) has announced the new members who will take over the municipal group in Ripoll, following the recent crisis stemming from the approval of local budgets.

The party has proposed Paco Morillo and Jorge Iglesias as new representatives in the City Council, marking a new phase after the resignation of the two previous councillors and the dissolution of the local group.
The crisis erupted in early April, when the two socialist councillors in Ripoll abstained from voting on the municipal accounts. This decision facilitated the approval of the local government's budget, prompting an immediate reaction from the socialist leadership. The Girona federation subsequently agreed to dissolve the Ripoll group and create a management committee, arguing that the "red line of not making agreements with the far-right must be respected throughout Catalonia".

Following this move, a spokesperson for the PSC explained that the party was working "intensely" to find new leaders in the municipality. They also stated that the individuals taking on this responsibility would not be part of the socialist electoral list in Ripoll.
According to the PSC, Morillo and Iglesias are undertaking "a difficult task" and will be charged with emphasizing the party's commitment to Ripoll and to "the values of equality and democracy that all left-wing parties represent in the municipality".
Paco Morillo, a resident of Ripoll, spent his entire career in a company in the sector and has been involved with a trade union, where he served as a union representative for over twenty years. He has also coached football in Ripoll and Sant Joan de les Abadesses, as well as futsal, and has been a referee for the sport.
Jorge Iglesias, born in Montevideo, arrived in Catalonia due to the political situation in his country. He has worked in a food company, where he was a union representative, and for eighteen years served as the organization secretary of a territorial union in the Girona regions. Currently retired, he participates in union projects in Ripollès aimed at young people and young immigrants.
The PSC highlights that both are well-known and respected individuals in Ripollès, emphasizing their trajectory in favor of diversity, inclusion, and progressive human values.
