The PSC councilors in Ripoll, Enric Pérez and Anna-Belén Avilés, have formally resigned from their positions, following a request from the party's national leadership that has caused significant disagreement with the local executive.

The decision comes after both councilors learned through the media of the national socialist leadership's intention to force their resignation. According to the issued statement, there was no prior meeting to communicate this decision, which has caused discomfort within the local party.

No member of the list has shown willingness to take over from our councilors.

The outgoing councilors emphasized that their work leading the PSC project in Ripoll has always been guided by the desire to work for the municipality, its inhabitants, the defense of public services, and the improvement of the quality of life for Ripoll residents. They described the national leadership's decision as "unilateral" and stated that the local party executive "does not agree in any way" with this measure.
In addition to his resignation as councilor, Enric Pérez has requested to be relieved of his position as advisor to the Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, Sílvia Paneque. Pérez, with a degree in Social Education, served as president of the Ripollès Regional Council from 2007 to 2011 and as a councilor in Ripoll during two periods: from 2003 to 2011 and from 2019 to the present. He ran as head of the list in the last elections.
For her part, Anna-Belén Avilés, with a degree in Hispanic Philology, has also been a prominent figure in the local PSC, serving as councilor and head of the list from 2013 to 2015, and as councilor since 2019. In the last elections, the PSC in Ripoll secured two councilors, one less than in 2019, becoming the third political force with the victory of Aliança Catalana.
