The new representatives for the PSC in Ripoll will be Paco Morillo and Jorge Iglesias. This decision comes after the previous councilors, Enric Pérez and Anna-Belén Avilés, were forced to resign by the party's national leadership. Their resignation stemmed from their abstention in a vote that allowed another political formation to approve the budget.
“"They are taking on a difficult task, but the party believes they will perform exceptionally. The PSC is committed to Ripoll and the values of equality and democracy that the left represents in the municipality."
Paco Morillo, a resident of Ripoll, has a long professional career at Fibran Group and has been involved with the UGT trade union, where he served as a union representative for over twenty years. He has also coached football in Ripoll and Sant Joan de les Abadesses, and refereed futsal.
Meanwhile, Jorge Iglesias, originally from Montevideo, arrived in Catalonia due to the political situation in his home country. He worked at Artigas Alimentària, also as a union representative, and served as the organization secretary for the UGT Territorial Union in the Girona regions for eighteen years. Currently retired, he collaborates on UGT projects in Ripollès aimed at young people and young immigrants.
The search for replacements for Pérez and Avilés took approximately three weeks. The situation led to the dissolution of the local PSC group in Ripoll by the Girona regional leadership, after initially no one wanted to fill the vacant positions. The party emphasized that the new councilors are "two well-known and respected individuals" in Ripollès, who have always worked for diversity, inclusion, and human and progressive values.
