The R3 commuter rail service partially resumed this March 11 between la Garriga and Ripoll, operating at only 50% of its usual capacity.

According to Renfe sources, the service recovery is marked by increased travel times. This situation is caused by ongoing speed restrictions and expanded maintenance work by Adif following the rail accident in Gelida on January 20.

"Pressure Adif to accelerate the necessary improvements so the train can operate with the schedules from before the Gelida accident."

Montse Ayats · Spokesperson for the 'Perquè no ens fotin el tren' platform
The passenger advocacy group Perquè no ens fotin el tren described the reopening as "timid." Spokesperson Montse Ayats warned that current limitations make it difficult to meet schedules, leading many commuters to continue using alternative bus services.
Regarding the northern section, the rail link to Puigcerdà and Latour-de-Carol will remain suspended until at least spring. Adif has opted to bring forward structural repairs in the Toses and Ribes de Freser tunnels to coincide with existing works in the area.
