The Ribes de Freser City Council has unanimously given the green light to the extension of the agreement with the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat de Catalunya. This decision guarantees the maintenance of the 36 places in the municipal geriatric residence and the five places in the day center.
The secured funding amounts to 1,137,705 euros, provided by the Generalitat, as detailed by the mayor, Mònica Sanjaume. This contribution is considered vital for sustaining the service, as agreed by spokespersons from various municipal groups.
Núria Rodríguez, councilor for the CUP, emphasized the importance of guaranteeing public places and striving to increase them, while Joaquim Roqué, spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana-Tots per Ribes, highlighted that without this funding, maintaining the residence would be impossible.
In the plenary session, a credit modification was also unanimously approved for the arrival of over 400,000 euros linked to the PUOSC. Furthermore, a motion was passed to demand from Telefónica an improvement in service and a reduction in coverage outages in the valley and the municipality.
During the questions and requests segment, it was confirmed that the Festa de l’Estiueig (Summer Festival) will take a one-year hiatus, following debates and a lack of consensus on its format. Esquerra Republicana called for urgent action on the roof of the Santa Maria church due to the risk of falling debris. The governing team confirmed they would study applying for the 'pla de pobles' (towns plan), although they could not apply for the 'Pla de Barris' (neighborhoods plan) due to not meeting per capita income requirements.
