Ripoll Local Police have released data from a speed control campaign, issuing 60 tickets over the weekend, 90% of which were to non-resident drivers.

The Ripoll Local Police have presented the results of the speed control campaign promoted by the Servei Català de Trànsit last week. The data reveals a significant difference between weekdays and the weekend.
During weekdays, 271 vehicles were checked without any infractions recorded. In contrast, over the weekend, 60 tickets were issued to 500 vehicles controlled on the ronda Castelladral. The highest speed detected was 73 km/h in a zone limited to 30 km/h.

"These are 60 tickets out of 500 vehicles checked. The highest speed detected was 73 kilometers per hour, in a section where the limit is 30."

Sergeant of the Ripoll Local Police · Elena Bernal
A notable fact is that 90% of the fines were for drivers from outside Ripoll. Sergeant Elena Bernal points out that the ronda Castelladral and carrer Progrés are used as through roads, and drivers do not realize they are passing through a municipality.

"It's a curious and very significant statistic. It means that ronda Castelladral and carrer Progrés are used as a bypass, and people are not conscious of passing through the municipality."

These sections were already identified as problem areas for traffic violations, and the campaign has confirmed this. Sergeant Bernal emphasized that no tickets were issued within the urban center of Ripoll, indicating that drivers adhere to speed limits in those areas.
The speed campaign also took place from Monday to Friday on carretera de Barcelona, carretera de Ribes, carretera de Sant Joan, and ronda Mas d’en Bosc, urban roads where neighborhood complaints had been received.
