The municipality of Setcases has inaugurated a new visitor and nature interpretation center, funded with 200,000 euros from the Ripollès Tourism Sustainability Plan.

The facility, located beneath the Plaça Verda, aims to disseminate the values of the Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser Natural Park, promote its conservation, and boost the socioeconomic development of the area. According to Joan Sarria, Councilor for Tourism Dynamization of Ripollès, the center will provide visitors with comprehensive information about the natural surroundings.
Given that Setcases encompasses the second-largest area within the park, this new space is crucial for guiding visitors from the urban center itself. The initiative seeks to highlight the itineraries, flora, fauna, and key environmental values of the region, while also promoting responsible mountain use.
The mayor of Setcases, Francesc Marcer, emphasized the center's role in raising visitor awareness about the importance of respecting the natural environment. The post-pandemic increase in visitors has underscored the need to balance heritage preservation with tourism activity and residents' quality of life.

"People, when they arrive in the village, can learn everything related to the park, the flora, the fauna, and the itineraries. They are also given recommendations for being in and respecting the environment."

The project involved an investment of approximately 200,000 euros. The center will be open on weekends and holidays for most of the year, extending its daily service during the summer to accommodate the expected influx of visitors.
