Severe windstorm hits Ripollès with gusts reaching 170 km/h

Civil Protection maintains the alert as strong winds cause road closures and over 150 emergency calls.

The Ripollès and Alt Empordà regions are facing a severe windstorm this Sunday, with gusts peaking at 170 km/h, leading to road closures and hundreds of emergency calls.

The 112 emergency line has received 340 calls due to the storm. The most affected areas include Gironès and Ripollès, with towns like Campelles and Camprodon reporting the highest number of incidents.
The Bombers de la Generalitat have responded to over 150 warnings. Notable incidents include a large fallen tree in Sant Joan de les Abadesses and a partially collapsed scaffold in Roses. No injuries have been reported so far.
Traffic has been disrupted on the N-260 near Ribes de Freser and several local roads due to debris. Civil Protection issued an ES-Alert on Saturday, advising residents to avoid outdoor activities.
