The vote passed with 9 votes in favor (6 from AC, 1 from Som-hi Ripoll, and 2 Junts councilors) and 2 abstentions (PSC Ripoll and the other Junts councilor). The ERC and CUP groups, with 3 and 2 councilors respectively, voted against. Mayor Sílvia Orriols’ goal is to move the nursing home to this building, as the current seven-story facility has “many deficiencies”.
For nearly two hours, opposition groups criticized the governing team for the lack of time to meet the project deadlines, estimated at only four months, and expressed disagreement with the proposed management model. The project had been initially approved last September.
“"We must call for the sum of all parties to contribute and improve projects."
The agreement reached allows the energy rehabilitation of the building to be put out to tender in a first phase. The text also includes second-phase work, such as drafting the adaptation project to convert the building into a residence and day center, as well as the management of the service and maintenance of the facilities.
The Mayor’s proposal is for the service concession to be handled by a private company for 40 years, a model that has been the main point of friction with the opposition, who requested more time to seek alternative formulas. Junts requested the creation of a commission to monitor and closely follow the steps that must be taken from now on.
