The president of Aliança Catalana and mayor of Ripoll, Sílvia Orriols, held the party's first municipal convention this Saturday, urging the Catalan Government to make urgent investments to improve the deficient railway system.

During the meeting in the capital of Ripollès, Orriols described the Catalan railway system as "macabre" and denounced the "opacity" surrounding Renfe and Adif. She insisted that, given the high level of taxation citizens bear, public services must be of superior quality.

"Catalans do not pay third-world taxes, we pay Nordic taxes, therefore, we want a substantial improvement in our public services."

The convention, which gathered about 200 people, served to define the strategy for the 2027 elections. The leader avoided specifying locations but stressed that the party will only run in municipalities where they can "condition" local policies and where there are "good candidacies" following the "same paradigm as Ripoll," especially regarding immigration policy.
Orriols also addressed the difficulty of adapting to the electoral regulation requiring gender parity in lists (zipper lists), citing a lower female presence in the party's membership. She assured that the organization will work to reverse this trend before the next elections.
