The action, promoted by the municipal corporation, has a cost of 57,570.88 euros (VAT included) and is expected to be executed within three months from the start of the works. This investment underscores the commitment to conserving outstanding heritage elements in Ripoll.
The works will focus on repairing the entrance wall, restoring pavements and paths over the canals, and renovating the facades. The walls of the ponds will also be reinforced, and key elements of the hydraulic system, such as floodgates and filtration grates, will be recovered.
The interpretive itinerary is designed to help visitors understand the role of this hydraulic system in the industrial development of the municipality.
A key priority is improving visitor safety by installing protective railings. Furthermore, environmental improvements will be carried out, such as consolidating the pavement of the Can Palau forge pond and cleaning and pruning the garden's conifers.
The ultimate goal is to highlight the water's route from the Pia Almoina canal to the last of the ponds. To achieve this, an explanatory route will be created to allow visitors to understand the historical function of the complex and the importance of Farga Palau in iron production in Ripoll.
