The events took place around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, when a traffic patrol of the Mossos d'Esquadra detected a vehicle driving on the A-2 with an expired Vehicle Technical Inspection (MOT).
The officers stopped the car at the Fonolleres service area. There, they observed that the driver, a 34-year-old man, exhibited “nervous” behavior and that a strong smell of cannabis emanated from the vehicle.
The total value of the seized drugs, according to the Central Office of Narcotics of the Ministry of the Interior, is approximately 12,180 euros.
After inspecting the trunk, the Mossos found a plastic bag containing a total of 1.84 kilograms of marijuana buds. For this reason, the man was arrested for an alleged crime against public health.
The detainee, who had previous records, was brought before the court of duty in Cervera on Thursday morning.
