The rider from Cervera was battling for victory, closely following Acosta's KTM, when suddenly Acosta's bike experienced a technical fault, causing him to brake abruptly on the back straight.
Márquez could not avoid colliding with Acosta's bike and was thrown towards the escape road before turn 10. Upon entering the gravel, the Catalan lost control of his Ducati Desmosedici, which violently impacted the wall.
The severity of the accident led Race Direction to immediately show the red flag. The blue Ducati was completely destroyed and lost parts as it slid back onto the tarmac.
The rider tumbled across the gravel after hitting the wall.
An ambulance quickly entered the track to attend to Àlex Márquez. Fortunately, the rider was conscious and was evacuated to the Circuit Medical Center for further tests. He was subsequently transferred to the Hospital General de Catalunya in Sant Cugat del Vallès.
