These new services, funded by Next Generation EU funds, enhance the tourist and leisure appeal of the Vall del Sió cycling route. The total investment amounted to 32,000 euros.
The parking module, a 4x2 meter steel structure, features an electronic opening device. The self-service station offers manual tools and an air pump, complemented by tourist information on its sides.
This initiative is part of the enogastronomic route project for the Vall del Sió, executed by the Diputació de Lleida, as part of the Strategy for Sustainable Tourism in Destinations.
Turisme Cervera views this development as an opportunity to highlight local heritage and foster synergies in tourism and sports, anticipating an increase in active tourism.
The Vall del Sió Cycling Route is a 74-kilometer itinerary covering municipalities in the Segarra, Urgell, and Noguera regions, from Sant Guim de Freixenet to Balaguer. The route passes through towns like Castellnou, Malgrat, and La Prenyanosa, with the Cervera sports area serving as a starting or stopping point.
The route follows the banks of the Sió river, utilizing greenways, existing cycle paths, and rural roads. Its endpoints are connected to train stations, facilitating combined bicycle and train tourism.
