After a summer absence, the capital of Segarra will once again host the International Music Festival. The Associació d’Amics de la Música aims to restart the event, one of the historical pillars of the Emili Pujol Chair, with a cycle of four performances.
The association's president, Estefania Balcells, highlighted the goal of "making music and concerts in Cervera." The organization is also working to potentially revive the International Music Course and the Luthier Fair in 2027, provided conditions are favorable.
The musical program will commence on Sunday, July 12, with the Cosmos Quartet and their performance "Mort a Venècia," featuring chamber music by Haydn, Britten, and García Tomás.
On July 13, the duo comprising baritone Toni Marsol and pianist Jordi Castellà will present the recital "Entre el cel i la taverna," blending European compositions with Catalan song.
The Catalan National Youth Orchestra (JONC), conducted by Manel Valdivieso, will perform Gustav Mahler's 5th symphony on July 14. The orchestra previously opened the festival in 2024.
The concert series will conclude on July 15 with Carles Cases and his "diu Llach" project, offering reinterpretations of the singer-songwriter's popular songs.
Venue doors will open at 7 PM, one hour before each performance, with bar service available. Tickets can be purchased individually for 20 euros or as a package for all four concerts for 60 euros.
