The Government of Catalonia is set to promote the expansion of the L-311 road between Cervera and Guissona, with the first section up to Tarroja de Segarra scheduled for public exhibition in the first week of March.

The project plans to transform the initial six-kilometer section, which currently has one lane per direction, into a 2+1 road model, incorporating an additional lane to facilitate safe overtaking. This action, valued at 11 million euros, is currently in the drafting phase.

"This action represents the first step towards a future fast road that will connect the capital of Segarra with Andorra and will place Cervera at the central crossroads of the country."

The next section of the L-311, covering the remaining distance to Guissona, is scheduled for execution between 2028 and 2030. This initiative is part of the Government's plan to extend the 2+1 model to more than 192 kilometers of roads in the province of Lleida.
The 2+1 system is a low-cost, lower environmental impact alternative to building motorways, specifically designed to increase road safety and reduce frontal accidents. This model uses a central lane that alternates for overtaking, preventing vehicles from having to invade the opposite lane.
