On the occasion of the Mare de Déu de la Salut festival, Guissona hosted a new edition of its traditional popular washing. This year, the celebration reached its fifteenth edition, consolidating itself as a key activity in the town's festive calendar for reviving memory and popular traditions.
About twenty volunteers participated in this recreation, which simulates the washing activities that used to take place at the town's fountains. The performance transported attendees to the Guissona of years past, recreating the conversations and atmosphere of that time.
One of the most notable aspects of this edition was the incorporation of young people into the volunteer group, a fact that helps rejuvenate the initiative and ensure its continuity. This participation of new generations joins the involvement of those who have kept the tradition alive for years.
The washing was dramatized by the participants themselves, recovering expressions, conversations, and elements of daily life in Guissona from past eras, highlighting the intangible heritage and collective memory of the town.
After the performance, attendees enjoyed a traditional snack of bread with oil and chocolate, thus recovering tastes and customs from other times.
The day continued at the Fountains with a musical performance by Krregades de Romanços, which provided the musical touch to an afternoon dedicated to tradition, popular culture, and community.
With this fifteenth edition, the popular washing reaffirms its role in keeping the memory of Guissona alive and ensuring the tradition's continuity thanks to the incorporation of new generations.
