The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 34-year-old man in Granyanella (Segarra) on Wednesday after finding nearly two kilos of marijuana in his car trunk during a control on the A-2 highway.

The intervention took place around 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, when a patrol conducting preventive surveillance on the A-2 detected a vehicle driving with an expired Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV). Officers stopped the car at the Fonolleres service area, within the municipality of Granyanella.
Upon identifying the occupant to process the traffic violation, officers noticed the man appeared nervous and that a strong smell of cannabis emanated from the vehicle's interior. This situation led to a search of the trunk, where a bag containing 1,840 grams of marijuana buds was found.

The value of the seized drugs on the illicit market, according to the tables of the Central Office of Narcotics of the Ministry of the Interior, could reach 12,180 euros.

Following the discovery, the individual, aged 34 and with prior police records, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health. He is scheduled to appear before the investigating court in Cervera this Thursday.
