Around 21,000 residents in the Segarra region began receiving drinking water from the Segarra-Garrigues canal this March 2026, marking a significant shift from the previous Urgell canal supply.

The new supply network serves Cervera, Guissona, and twelve other municipalities in the Sió valley. Local authorities emphasized that this change will prevent water turbidity issues and provide a more reliable service for the community.

"This is a historic day for the region."
