The Generalitat Firefighters responded to six calls regarding house fires caused by chimneys or stoves across several towns in Ponent and the Pyrenees region between Saturday afternoon and Sunday night.

The most significant incident took place in Montferrer i Castellbó (Alt Urgell) on Saturday afternoon, with the alert received at 18.03 hours. Seven units of the fire department were mobilized to extinguish this fire, which originated between the false ceiling and the roof.
The main hypothesis suggests that excessive heat from the chimney was the cause of the fire. The Medical Emergency System (SEM) attended to the property owner, although the Firefighters confirmed that the injuries were not serious.

Excessive heat from chimneys and malfunctioning stoves are the cause of the majority of these winter fires.

This fire in Montferrer i Castellbó was one of six services related to chimneys and stoves carried out by the Firefighters during the same period. The other call-outs were registered in Benavent de Segrià, Alpicat (Segrià), la Pobla de Segur (Pallars Jussà), and Sort (Pallars Sobirà).
