The Emergency Medical Service (SEM) is attending to nine people affected by a traffic accident that occurred on the C-12 road, in the municipality of Maials, in the Segrià region. According to information from Trànsit (Traffic), the road has been completely closed to traffic as a result of the incident.
The SEM transferred five of the injured to the Arnau de Vilanova University Hospital in Lleida, and another four to the Móra d'Ebre Hospital. The severity of the injuries varies.
Civil Protection reported that the exact causes of the accident, which involved only a single vehicle, are still unknown and are being investigated by the relevant authorities.
Firefighters confirmed that one person was trapped inside the damaged vehicle but has since been freed and is receiving medical attention from the SEM. The emergency response included seven SEM units and a medicalized helicopter.
