The Aitona Town Council inaugurated a new viewpoint at the Aitona Castle this February 22, marking a significant step in the recovery of this 12th-century historical site.

Mayor Rosa Pujol led the ceremony, highlighting the 71,184-euro investment supported by the Department of Culture. The project focused on creating a safe ramp and staircase access to the upper platform, where visitors can now observe the Baix Segre landscape.
Archaeological works conducted in late 2024 revealed important details about the north-west tower. These findings led to adjustments in the construction to preserve the original opus emplectum masonry and the sophisticated defensive layout of the fortress.

"The intervention was carried out to facilitate access to the upper part of the castle, offering a privileged view of the landscape."
