Alpicat falls to dominant Telecable Gijón

Lleidanet Alpicat suffered a 1-4 home defeat against Telecable Gijón this Sunday, after a clinical start by the visitors left the local side with no options at the Antoni Roure arena.

The match was effectively decided in the first seven minutes. Ana Catarina Jesús scored the opener just 24 seconds in, followed by two goals from Mariona Colomer and another by María Igualada. This early 0-4 lead allowed the Asturian side to control the game comfortably.
In the second half, Alpicat improved their performance and increased the intensity. Although Joana Folch missed a penalty, Arantxa González managed to score a consolation goal in the final minutes. The team remains just one point behind Las Rozas in the fight for top-flight survival.
Meanwhile, Esneca Fraga secured a massive 4-10 away win against Las Rozas. Adriana Soto was the star of the match, scoring five times to keep her team in second place, trailing leaders Vila-sana by only two points.
