The Annual Conference of the Lleida ESADE Alumni Club hosted a talk by Carlos Latre at the Club Tennis Lleida, where he shared insights on life beyond professional success.

In a society that often idealizes success, Carlos Latre offered a more realistic perspective during his presentation at the Annual Conference of the Lleida ESADE Alumni Club. Addressing attendees at the Club Tennis Lleida, the well-known impressionist went beyond his characters to reveal himself as an entrepreneur and individual, discussing the fears, insecurities, and failures that accompany any life journey.
Latre emphasized the importance of authenticity, asserting that “everyone is unique” and that this value is more appreciated than perfection. He stressed the need to embrace one's own individuality rather than following trends.

"Hay que quererse a uno mismo"

A key point of his talk was managing failure. Latre reminded the audience that losing is also part of the journey and that every mistake represents a learning opportunity. He contrasted cultural perceptions of failure, noting that while in other places attempts are appreciated, here they are often judged, even though success is typically built on perseverance and doubt.
He also advocated for self-esteem, stating “Hay que quererse a uno mismo” (One must love oneself). He championed having the value, strength, and courage to be oneself in a world full of comparisons.
Regarding talent, Latre cited Rafa Nadal as an example, arguing that success is not solely about talent but also about work, discipline, and dedication. He concluded that “luck exists, but it must find you working”.
Beyond his professional career, he focused on empathy, listening, and understanding as fundamental tools, drawing parallels to his work as an impressionist where understanding a person is key. He highlighted the importance of surrounding oneself with people who love us and dare to tell us the truth, considering family and friends as true assets.

"Pase lo que pase, no dejemos de reír."

The final message was an invitation to hope through laughter: “Pase lo que pase, no dejemos de reír.” (Whatever happens, let's not stop laughing). Latre explained that laughter doesn't eliminate problems but transforms how we face them, connects us with others, and helps us forget difficulties.
In an accelerated and often tense social climate, voices advocating for authenticity, humility, empathy, and joy are more necessary than ever. Ultimately, success is measured not just by the destination but by the joy of the journey and the ability to make others smile.
