The entity believes that both administrations continue to neglect their obligation to preserve the historic property in Vallmanya, which was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN) in the historical site category last year. According to the platform, the demands made to the owner to carry out works are merely "smoke screens".
“"They continue to make the same mistakes that led us to file the complaint with the Prosecutor's Office. The council and the Government are only going through the motions to pretend they are working on the house's conservation."
The platform has expressed its distrust of the actions taken by the Generalitat and the city council regarding Cal Macià. They recalled that the owner ignored a previous municipal request to carry out works and anticipate that the request issued by the Generalitat on March 31 will have the same outcome.
The entity argues that both the council and the Government could act subsidiarily immediately if they wished. They have repeatedly advocated for the need to expropriate the house if the owner does not halt its severe deterioration or agree to sell it for public acquisition.
For their part, both the Alcarràs City Council and the Department of Culture have defended their actions to curb the deterioration of Cal Macià. They have stated that they have requested works from the owner and have negotiated the purchase of the house. Both administrations have rejected the accusations of neglect that prompted the Prosecutor's Office investigation. Guardia Civil agents visited the council two weeks ago to gather documentation, and the department received a request from the public ministry last Monday to provide documents.
