The Pyrenees and Lleida Lands have renewed the Biosphere Gold Destination seal, a distinction that rewards continuous improvement in sustainable tourism and sector involvement.

The Pyrenees and the Lleida Lands have once again revalidated the Biosphere Gold Destination seal. This recognition certifies the ongoing work to enhance sustainability, driven by the Patronat de Turisme de la Diputació de Lleida and with the involvement of the business sector and local entities. The certification validates territorial actions aligned with the Strategic Tourism Plan for the Pyrenees and Lleida Lands 2023-2026, consolidating the region as a destination committed to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
The most recent audit positively assessed the maintenance of the certification, highlighting the destination's evolution in sustainability and the sector's participation. In total, 66 actions and 205 activities were evaluated. Public-private collaboration has resulted in over 3,000 completed actions and 5,000 activities linked to sustainability and the SDGs.
This revalidation continues the path initiated in 2021, when the destination first obtained the Biosphere Destination certification. In 2024, it was strengthened with the "Biosphere Gold Destination" distinction, awarded by the Institut de Turisme Responsable (ITR), due to continuous improvement and the engagement of businesses and entities.
Since 2021, the Patronat has offered the "Biosphere Sustainable" platform, which assists the sector in designing personalized sustainability plans with over 500 activities linked to the SDGs and international criteria.
Currently, more than 200 tourism companies and entities have begun the process. Of these, 45 have achieved Biosphere certification, and 171 have committed to a specific sustainability plan.
