The main irrigation canals in the province of Lleida are in an optimal situation to face the agricultural campaign. The good management of water reserves in the Ribagorçana reservoirs, which hold 835 hm³, allows the Pinyana canal to operate at full capacity with a flow rate of 11.2 m³/s.
The Aragón y Catalunya canal has begun its zone division this week. The lower section is supplied by Santa Anna, while the upper section uses Barasona (at 95% capacity) and San Salvador for the Saidí Canal, maintaining a free supply. The canal's president, José Luis Pérez, anticipates high consumption due to weather conditions and an increase in second crops, with orders already being high.
Regarding the Urgell canal, the Principal is flowing at 29.6 m³/s and the Auxiliary at 11.1 m³/s. Sources from the irrigators' community highlight that the campaign is "very favorable" thanks to the 468 hm³ reserves between the Oliana and Rialb reservoirs, and the contributions from the Segre river, which exceed 30 m³/s. This water availability ensures a good campaign, especially as wheat and barley, occupying 55% of the area, are already finishing their water demand.
Second crops, accounting for no more than 15% of the cultivated area, will also benefit from this water abundance, ensuring the proper development of the remaining crops.
