The Cosmofruita space at Afrucat hosted the presentation of the training program in agribusiness, bioeconomy, and agricultural production methods. Emprèn AGRO BIO is the result of integrating the Emprèn BIO 4.0 and Emprèn Agro Cat programs, initiatives that have promoted entrepreneurship and innovation in the region.
The new edition includes 17 participants who will receive a hundred hours of training and mentorship on business management, innovation, and technology. The three-month program combines in-person and online training, including visits to success stories and individualized mentorship.
Emprèn AGRO BIO focuses on a transversal approach adapted to current sector challenges, integrating innovation, digitalization, sustainability, and bioeconomy throughout the value chain. It targets both early-stage projects and those seeking growth and consolidation.
The 17 participants are leading 13 projects in areas such as the production of frozen pizza bases from legumes, applications for field management using satellite imagery, platforms to reduce food waste, IoT monitoring systems for agricultural irrigation, cultivation of aromatic herbs, and proximity pitahaya production.
The program is an initiative by the Lleida City Council, the University of Lleida, the technology center Eurecat, the cluster FEMAC, and Afrucat, with support from Parc AgroBioTech Lleida, the Catalan Bioeconomy Hub, and the Digital and Forest Agri-food Innovation Centre. It also collaborates with the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Provincial Council of Lleida, the Chamber of Commerce of Lleida, the College of Agricultural Engineers of Catalonia, the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia, LinkUp, and the Consell Comarcal del Segrià.
