The Government delegate in Lleida, Núria Gil, confirmed that the four new FGC electric trains, manufactured by Stadler, will enter service on the RL3 and RL4 lines (connecting Lleida, Cervera, and Terrassa) this summer.

The new convoys, which are currently undergoing nighttime testing, aim primarily to end the constant delays and breakdowns currently plaguing the line, generating numerous complaints from users who commute daily to Lleida. The contract for these trains was awarded in 2021 for 63 million euros and they will offer 14 daily services per direction between Lleida and Cervera.

"Despite an uncertain political scenario without budgets agreed upon for this 2026 yet, we express good will to work towards securing the budgets."

During the meeting with the media, Gil also advanced other key forecasts for the Lleida region for 2026. These include the opening of the new Lleida bus station during the first quarter and the start of service of the new school in Castellnou de Seana (Pla d'Urgell) in September, the first built entirely with this Government's budget.
In the field of road infrastructure, the Government is working on the study of five bypasses (Tàrrega, Bellpuig, Arbeca, Seròs, and Castelldans) and will deploy the agreement to improve connectivity in Garrigues Altes, with an investment of 18.4 million euros. Regarding health, the new Almenar Primary Care Center (CAP) will open in the spring, and the new Mossos d'Esquadra police station in Mollerussa (Pla d'Urgell-Garrigues) will be operational by the end of 2026.
