Heatwave: Over a Dozen Catalan Towns Exceed 41ºC

Vilanova de Segrià records the highest temperature at 43ºC, while Barcelona experiences one of the warmest nights of the year.

A dozen Catalan locations registered temperatures above 41 degrees this Monday, coinciding with the heatwave affecting the region.

The highest temperature was recorded in Vilanova de Segrià (Lleida), reaching 43ºC, according to data from Meteocat. This figure slightly surpasses Sunday's highs, when El Poal and Lleida hit 41 degrees.
Other municipalities that surpassed the 41-degree mark include Lleida-la Femosa (42.4ºC), Alfarràs (42.1ºC), Alcarràs (42.1ºC), Vinebre (41.8ºC), El Poal (41.7ºC), Algerri (41.7ºC), Castellnou de Seana (41.6ºC), Gimenells (41.6ºC), and Torroja del Priorat (41.5ºC).
The city of Barcelona also experienced a tropical night, with temperatures not dropping below 25 degrees in several areas, including El Raval and the Fabra Observatory, where 25.4 degrees were recorded.
In response to these extreme temperatures, Protecció Civil has urged caution. The Procicat plan remains on alert due to the high temperatures, which are expected to stay elevated until at least Thursday the 25th.
