During the inauguration of the Alcarràs photovoltaic park, the largest in Catalunya, Illa emphasized the need for firm decisions, stating: “The Government will make the decisions it needs to make. We cannot afford to stop.” He highlighted the importance of the country's natural resources, recalling: “We don't have oil, but we have sun and air.”
The Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, accompanied the president on the visit and announced plans to construct an additional 100 MW of installed capacity starting in 2027, adding to the 300 MW already operational.
The visit to the solar farm coincided with a protest by about fifteen individuals organized by groups such as Lleida contra la MAT and Plataforma l’Horta de Lleida. Protesters denounced the project as “speculation” and warned of “illegal fragmentation,” displaying banners that described Alcarràs as a “horror movie.”
