The Arnau de Vilanova hospital in Lleida has been honored with the prestigious Albert Vilalta Prize for Best Infrastructure and Equipment operational in Catalonia in 2025. The award, presented by the Catalan Infrastructure Advisory Council (CAdIC) at the tenth edition of the Night of Infrastructures, acknowledges the building's "transcendence" for the health region of Lleida.
The jury highlighted the "methodology and collaborative work" of the involved parties, which enabled the construction to be completed in just two years (May 2023 - June 2025), a significantly shorter timeframe than the typical 6 to 8 years required for such complex infrastructures.
The building, operational since July 2025, features four floors plus a basement, housing 108 consultation rooms and offices, three day hospital areas, and support spaces. These facilities now accommodate 80% of the hospital's outpatient appointments, marking "the first visible step towards the consolidation of the Lleida Health Park," according to CAdIC.
The construction cost amounted to 45.8 million euros, with 22 million funded by European sources. The project includes an atrium connecting the new building to the existing three at the Arnau de Vilanova. The design was led by SPG Arquitectura, MED Architects, Aseng, and JSS, with construction carried out by Comsa, Comsa Industrial, and Dominion, under the direction of Dalmau Morros Arquitectes and Efficax.
