Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, detailed his plans yesterday for the remaining 16 months of his term, focusing on housing policy, the new POUM, and improving public spaces after the automatic budget approval.

To address the main citizen complaint regarding public dirtiness, the municipal government will create the position of a Mayoral Commissioner dedicated to ensuring the good condition of public spaces. This commissioner will oversee a new inspection body with sanctioning power, set to take effect alongside the new street cleaning and waste collection contract this spring.
Regarding housing, Larrosa announced the immediate granting of licenses to build 190 affordable homes, a collaboration between the Paeria and private initiative, adding to 159 already under construction. Furthermore, he confirmed that the new Municipal Urban Planning Plan (POUM) will be brought to the plenary session in March, which is crucial for unblocking the long-stalled Estació Plan.

His government has 120 projects underway, although he admitted that some depend on the support of opposition parties.

Other highlights include the groundbreaking ceremony for the Promenade commercial center in Torre Salses scheduled for February 26. Separately, the plan to provide municipal land in Camí dels Frares for Lleida's main Muslim community has been dropped, as the collective renounced the option due to lack of political backing.
