The Provincial Court of Lleida has issued a second acquittal for psychiatrist J.R.P.P., who faced six years in prison for allegedly defrauding a long-term patient in Lleida.

The retrial was held in November after the High Court of Justice of Catalonia overturned a previous 2023 acquittal. However, the new panel of judges ruled that the evidence presented was insufficient to prove criminal intent or manipulation.
The case involved a 240,000 euro property transfer intended to cover the patient's lifelong care. The court found that the family was fully aware of the agreement and acted voluntarily under professional advice.
