The city of Lleida and Les Borges Blanques have been identified as prime locations for viewing the total solar eclipse scheduled for August 12, 2026.

According to Salvador Ribas, manager of the Montsec Astronomy Park (PAM), inland areas of Catalonia have a higher statistical probability of clear skies compared to the coast. The event, which has not occurred in the region for 120 years, will take place at 8:30 PM, just as the sun sits low in the western sky.

"Probably the best place in Catalonia will be the Ebro Delta area, but statistics are quite favorable for the Lleida lands."

The PAM, operated by FGC, is launching a special 2026 season featuring the immersive film 3clipse. Experts emphasize the necessity of using certified solar glasses to view the phenomenon safely, as the sun will be at a 5-degree inclination during the total phase.
