The Lleida City Council presented this March the plans for the new Porta de Sant Martí park, a green space designed to transform the entrance to the Seu Vella monument starting this autumn.

Located on Sant Martí street, the park will occupy the site of the old police station demolished in 2023. The project aims to create the first urban forest in the Historic Center, featuring approximately 100 trees to provide shade and improve the local environment.

"It has the concept of being the first urban forest in the Historic Center, due to the density of trees and the space it creates."

Fèlix Larrosa · Mayor of Lleida
The 650,000 euro project, co-funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya, will include smart streetlights with integrated security cameras. According to Sergi Gimeno, head of Public Works, the park will maintain bus parking spaces while prioritizing pedestrian accessibility.
