The Lleida City Council presented on Friday a major rehabilitation project for the Camps Elisis Chalet, a historic landmark that has remained closed since 2016.

The local government plans to invest 2,334,974 euros to restore the building as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. Construction is expected to be put out to tender this spring, with an estimated execution period of 16 months. Funding will be provided by the PUOSC regional plan and municipal resources.
Mayor Fèlix Larrosa stated that while the venue will not be a formal library due to size constraints, it will become a cultural meeting point focused on books and reading. The Noucentista-style building, originally designed by Joaquim Porqueres and Francesc de Paula Morera, will also include a restaurant service.

"Recovering the Chalet means recovering the heart of Camps Elisis and is part of the city's collective memory."

Architect Jaume Terés explained that the renovation will remove the current glass enclosure to create a more open space that interacts with the surrounding Camps Elisis park. This project is part of a broader urban strategy that includes the upcoming completion of the Palau de Vidre renovation.
