Mariona Armero breaks Spanish U18 and U20 200m records

The athlete from Lleida achieves the best European indoor time of the year in Antequera.

Athlete Mariona Armero, from Lleida, made history this March 2026 in Antequera by setting new Spanish U18 and U20 records in the 200-meter indoor sprint.

The young sprinter from Lleida UA clocked a time of 23.64 seconds during the Spanish Indoor Championships. This performance marks the fastest European time of the season and the seventh-best in world history for her age group, breaking records previously held by Jaël Bestué.

Armero has developed her talent at the les Basses facilities in Lleida, training under Tatan Vidal since the age of nine. Her coach emphasized that these records are a direct consequence of her talent and daily sacrifice on the track.
At just 16 years old, Armero dreams of competing in the Olympic Games or World Championships, though she remains focused on her immediate goals at the upcoming European Championships.
