The Government's sub-delegate in Lleida, José Crespín, accompanied by the Head of the State Road Unit in Lleida, Carlota Vilanova, inspected this Monday the construction of the new roundabout at kilometer point 230.7 of the N-260, near Montferrer. This project, promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, aims to increase safety in the area.
According to the new execution plan's projections, traffic disruptions will be minimal. Unlike initial intentions that considered diversions through neighboring towns, both directions of the N-260 will now remain open for most of the work. Carlota Vilanova explained that 'At specific moments, there will be an alternating passage, but in principle, we will build from the outside in, and cars will pass with minimal diversions; there will be no total closures'.
The preliminary works, which began in early April to reorganize basic utilities, continue until the roundabout's circumference starts being marked on the asphalt in a few weeks. This initial phase has allowed for the renovation of leaking water pipes and preparation for burying overhead cables, an 'invisible but very important' improvement, as highlighted by José Crespín.
The complete execution of the works will last approximately six months, with a budget of 730,000 euros. This duration coincides with the period of peak traffic intensity on the road, which registers an average of over 15,000 vehicles daily.
