Approximately 86 people from Lleida are currently living in Persian Gulf countries affected by the military escalation involving Iran, Israel, and the USA, according to INE records.

Migration from Lleida to countries like the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia has seen a steady rise. The community in the UAE has reached 62 residents, doubling its size since 2021.

The war is also impacting the local economy in Catalonia. Dehydrated fodder companies from Lleida are struggling to recover containers blocked by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, affecting exports to Kuwait and Oman.
