The expedition, made up of health professionals and aid workers, will remain in the camps until February 17. The association's president, Pilar Sierra, highlighted that the majority of the personnel traveling on this mission are from Lleida and its surrounding area.
The mission's objective is not only medical assistance but also training and the exchange of knowledge with Sahrawi health workers.
One of the main novelties of this edition is the incorporation of a surgery and anesthesia team, which will allow surgical interventions to be performed directly in the camps. The team includes specialists in pediatrics, gynecology, family medicine, traumatology, dermatology, and nursing, among other medical areas.
In addition to assistance and training, the commission is transporting one ton of humanitarian aid material. This cargo includes essential medicines, various sanitary equipment, and school supplies aimed at improving the refugees' living conditions.
The expedition has broad institutional and private support, including collaboration from the Juneda City Council, the Official College of Physicians of Lleida, the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital, the UdL, and the Lleida City Council, in addition to several clinics and pharmacies in the region.
